Mac Mini Power Supply Manual 2017
Packing this much power into the same enclosure required an all-new thermal architecture — including all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply.
Climb in. Geek out.
Mac mini features high-performance 2666MHz DDR4 SO-DIMM memory for faster rendering, working with massive files, or running multiple virtual machines. And now you can configure even more memory — up to 64GB — to run even heavier workloads.
Haul apps.
Mac mini now includes all-flash PCIe-based storage, with up to four times the read speeds of previous flash options. So you can load giant files and launch apps faster than ever — and with the available 2TB SSD, you’ll have twice the space for all of them.
Next-generation security.
Mac mini features the Apple T2 Security Chip — second-generation custom Mac silicon designed by Apple to make Mac mini even more secure. The T2 Security Chip consolidates several controllers into one, and includes a Secure Enclave coprocessor that provides the foundation for encrypted storage and secure boot capabilities.

Few things are more annoying in your workplace than a computer than won't function as it should. If you have one of Apple's Mac Mini computers, a variety of relatively mundane issues could cause the device to cease starting up as expected. Your AppleCare plan covers most power-related issues for the duration of the warranty, but once the warranty runs out, you're on your own.
Verify Connections
Although the Mac Mini may appear not to start, the problem may be with your monitor rather than with the Mac Mini itself. Before proceeding with troubleshooting the Mac Mini and its hardware, check to see if the power light on the Mac Mini is illuminated. If it is, then the computer is on and your startup issues are likely related to your monitor. Verify that your monitor is properly and securely connected to the Mac Mini. Verify that its power cable is securely attached to a working electrical outlet, if applicable, and that the monitor is turned on.
Power and Peripherals
Once you've verified that the Mac Mini is not powering up, check the computer's power cable. Make sure that the power cable is securely attached to the Mac Mini and that the plug end is securely connected to a working electrical outlet. If you're unsure about the functionality of the electrical outlet, try plugging a portable device, such as a lamp, into the outlet to check.
When you've verified that the electrical outlet is working, try removing any peripherals attached to the Mac Mini. Peripherals include devices such as USB hubs, printers and portable media players such as iPods. Occasionally devices like these can cause hardware conflicts that prevent the Mac Mini from turning on. Once you've removed these devices, press the power button on the Mac Mini to see if it starts up.
Reset System Management Controller
When you've verified that the monitor, power cable and peripherals aren't the problem, it's time to reset the System Management Controller. The System Management Controller is responsible for a variety of important hardware functionality, and its malfunctioning can lead to a number of problems, one of which is the failure of the Mac Mini to respond when its power button is pressed. To reset the System Management Controller, disconnect the Mac Mini's power cable. Wait at least 15 seconds and then reconnect the power cable. Wait another five seconds and then try turning on the computer again.
Additional Information
If none of the above solutions work, it is possible that your Mac Mini's power adapter may have failed. If you have multiple Mac Minis at your workplace, try swapping the problematic one out for another. If the Mac Mini is still under warranty, take it in to a local Apple store to have it replaced for free. They can perform diagnostics on the computer to determine whether there is an internal hardware problem. Opening up the Mac Mini yourself to examine its internal hardware may void the warranty.
